WHY SPAY?

One of the greatest tragedies for dogs and cats around the country is homelessness.  Abandoned pets often live harsh, short lives which is unfortunate enough; however, they most often are not spayed or neutered and bring many more offspring into homelessness.

In Arkansas, few of these unwanted animals ever see the luxury of a shelter or a chance to find a good home.  For those few who are rescued it is more likely that they will be euthanized than adopted.  Most are dumped in rural areas where they are considered a nuisance and potentially dangerous.  Unlike wild animals, abandoned pets who have been domesticated over 1000s of years are not adapted to surviving alone, but are very capable of bringing many more lives into suffering.  Unlike us, they have no choice.

Arkansans for Animals, Inc. is dedicated to helping stop the pet overpopulation problem.  The Mobile Animal Surgical Hospital MASH, a low-cost mobile sterilization clinic, and Spay Neuter Arkansas, a low-cost referral program, help provide responsible pet owners and local animal welfare agencies options for low cost spays and neuters they could otherwise not afford.
